Meet The Team – Ian Cheung

How did you start your career?

Growing up I was unsure of what career I wanted, so I ended up studying for an Accounting degree. I wanted a career that would be challenging and provided security.

What does your day-to-day role include?

Answering client communications, ensuring work is flowing through the stages and supporting colleagues as and when necessary.

What do you like most about working in tax?

Tax is a very complicated subject and thus challenges your brainwaves to problem solve based on your clients’ circumstances.

What advice would you give someone who wants to start their career in accountancy?

It’s not just about numbers, you create relationships with clients and this job also develops your impersonal skills which helps far beyond your work life.

Tell me an interesting fact about yourself?

I can play the piano and I enjoy playing tennis. I play Club tennis for Tadcaster and have played there for 4.5 years.

What’s your favourite TV show?

There are too many to list! If I had to pick a favourite it would be either Brooklyn 99 or Journey to the West.

Where is the best place you have ever visited & why?

Hong Kong, because it is like a second home and closely followed by Maldives
