Meet The Team – Jess Jackson

How did you start your career?

I began working at HGH when I was 18 years old, straight after finishing college, I even had to take a day off to collect my A-level results! I started studying the AAT, followed by the Chartered accountant exams, becoming fully qualified in 2012. Since then I progressed from client manager to my current role as senior manager, supporting a Clients, businesses, the team and our Directors.

If you could give your past self a piece of advice, what would it be?

Enjoy being young whilst you can! Live your life to the fullest and appreciate everything you’ve got. Especially whilst you’re young and have more time on your hands.

What’s the biggest challenge you’ve overcome?

One of my biggest challenges was studying for my Charted ICAEW exams while balancing a full-time job.

How do you define success in business?

Sometimes it’s small wins on a daily level, such as completing everything on my to-do list. Or it’s bigger milestones, like on a recent project, where I worked with a long-standing client, which led to a successful client sale through consistent communication and trusted relationships.

What future goals excite you most?

I am excited about continuing to develop in my senior manager role, supporting directors, the team and clients, while actively embedding wellbeing into our company culture.

What’s your favourite food/meal and why?

Anything on the menu from Oscar’s restaurant in York, especially the chilli nachos. My husband and I have been going there over 20years and it still continues to be our go-to place when we have a child free evening.

What song gets you onto the dancefloor?

Oops Upside Your Head – The Gap Band.
